Smart Start Request for Proposals (RFP)
The Stokes Partnership for Children, Inc. wants to fund acceptable
programs, which relate to young children (birth through age five) for
fiscal year 2012-2013. Programs should help ensure that all of Stokes
Countys young children enter kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed.
Proposals will be accepted in the areas of family support, health,
literacy and early care and education. Stokes Partnership for Children
has defined four primary goal areas and objectives:
1. Every child experiences high quality early learning environments.
2. All families are stable and maintain nurturing home environments.
3. All children ages birth to five are engaged in routine (preventive)
health care.
4. All children have access to literacy based programs that have been
proven to increase reading skills, which are important to their success in
school and work.
Funding priority will be given to programs that will result in any one of
the following, but other proposals will be considered especially as they
relate to the above primary goal areas and objectives:
Increase in child care slots, especially in the northern part of Stokes
County
All child care teachers and administrators increase their educational
levels and improve the quality of their programs, including
family child care home providers.
Reduction in childhood obesity
Increase teacher pay to help reduce teacher turnover rate
Increase dental care for children in Stokes County
Increase in number of young children receiving well-child check-ups
Improve access to transportation to get children to and from child care
Contractors must have demonstrated competency in performing services
defined in this RFP. Specifically, the contractors must demonstrate a
successful history of providing similar services. The contractors should
describe all project experience in North Carolina or other states with
similar program operations.
The availability of Smart Start funds is contingent on the final budget
adopted by the NC General Assembly for the 20122013 fiscal year.
Individuals, organizations or agencies interested in seeking Smart Start
funding should obtain details and attend the mandatory grant workshop, to
be held at Stokes Partnership for Children, Thursday, December 1, 2011 at
9:00 a.m. Please call to register. All proposals are due by 5:00 p.m.

The Stokes Partnership for Children is currently accepting Request for Proposals
for fiscal year 2012-2013. If you are interested in contracting with the Stokes
Partnership for Children please complete the Request for Proposal packet below.
All proposals must be received
no later than
5:00 pm, Tuesday, January 17, 2012.
Please submit one original, 12 copies, each three hole punched.
Please provide one copy on CD.
Grant workshop is scheduled for: Thursday, December 1, 2011, at
9:00 a.m
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Workshop will be in the conference room
of the Stokes Partnership for Children office in King, N.C.
If you or your organization would like to submit a proposal,
attendance to the grant workshop is required.
